Announcing a Gift Commitment to Establish the Durban Sports Business Program
Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,
I write to share the news of a remarkable gift commitment from Egon (B’95 P’28) and Abigail Durban (P’28) to establish the Durban Sports Business Program in our McDonough School of Business. Launched earlier this spring, this innovative program builds on Georgetown’s longstanding strengths in business education, values-based leadership, and the sports industry and opens new avenues for students to become leaders at the intersection of these fields.
The program’s inaugural cohort consists of 40 undergraduate Durban Fellows. Fellows complete nine credits of specialized coursework and also participate in a range of immersive and experiential learning opportunities, from research and internships to engagement with leaders across the sports business landscape.
I would like to thank Dean Paul Almeida and our colleagues at the McDonough School of Business for their dedicated leadership.
This new program would not have been possible without Egon and Abby’s vision and generous support. We have been fortunate to benefit from their deep and sustained engagement in our University community over many years and are grateful for their extraordinary investment to create the Durban Sports Business Program.
Please join me in thanking Egon and Abby Durban for all that their gift commitment will make possible for the next generation of sports business leaders.
Sincerely,
Robert M. Groves
Interim President
