The inauguration of Eduardo M. Peñalver as the 49th President of Georgetown University will mark the beginning of a new chapter in the University’s history.
The ceremony and surrounding events will bring together members of the Georgetown community and distinguished guests to honor the University’s mission, tradition, and future.

Gaston Hall + Livestream
Guests are invited to a special liturgy featuring distinguished religious leaders and an interfaith component honoring Georgetown’s Jesuit and Catholic traditions. The Mass will be held in Gaston Hall, with a livestream viewing option available in Dahlgren Chapel.

Installation of Eduardo M. Peñalver

McDonough Arena + Livestream
The program will include an academic procession, musical performances, remarks from University leaders, and President Peñalver’s inauguration address. Guests can also view the ceremony via livestream at the Healey Family Student Center (Hilltop Campus) and McCourt Auditorium (Capitol Campus).

Inauguration Reception
Following the Installation Ceremony, guests are warmly invited to a celebratory reception in the Leavey Ballroom and Capitol Viewing Space. Enjoy light hors d’’oeuvres and refreshments as members of the Georgetown community and distinguished guests gather to commemorate this historic occasion and celebrate the beginning of Eduardo Peñalver’s presidency.

Meet President Peñalver
Eduardo Peñalver is Georgetown University’s 49th president. He is the previous president of Seattle University, a Rhodes Scholar, and a professor of law who clerked for former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
