A Global Partnership
On May 17, 2005, President John J. DeGioia and Qatar Foundation co-founder Her Royal Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned signed the agreement to create the Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in Doha, Qatar. In partnership with the Qatar Foundation, this campus, offers a new way to reflect on the University’s global mission.
Georgetown University in QatarThe opening of the SFS in Qatar transformed Georgetown into an international institution. The inaugural class in 2005 consisted of 25 students. Twenty years later, the school expanded dramatically with an enrollment of over 460 students.
In April 2017, the program “Zones of Conflict, Zones of Peace” received recognition for its promotion of international exchange and innovations in international education.
