Messages to the Georgetown Community

Update on Developments in the Middle East

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,

As you are aware, the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran yesterday, and in response Iran has launched strikes on Israel, as well as several nations in the region that host U.S. military bases, including Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Currently all airspace in the region is closed.

The leadership of Georgetown University in Qatar has been in close touch with the GU-Q community. The GU-Q website is being updated regularly with information about regional security, GU-Q’s operating status and community resources.

Our MBA Global Experience program was scheduled to start today, March 1, in Dubai. We have suspended this course and are working to bring students back home as soon as possible. We will make alternate arrangements for the completion of this course.

The safety and security of Georgetown University community members around the world is our top priority. Our colleagues in DC and in the Middle East are actively working together to support community members and provide resources. In addition, our Every Hoya Cares website includes information about well-being resources.

We will continue to closely monitor this evolving situation.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Groves
Interim President
