The Office of the President leads and contributes to many special projects across the University. These projects focus on interreligious dialogue, engagement with our local and global communities, and advancing academic excellence. A selection of projects are highlighted below.
Slavery, Memory, and Reconciliation
Since 2015, the University has worked to recognize and memorialize our history with the institution of slavery, connect with Descendant communities, and reconcile the University’s role in the injustice of slavery.

Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative
Georgetown University’s annual MLK Initiative: “Let Freedom Ring” honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through a series of community events, the Legacy of a Dream award, and a special Let Freedom Ring Celebration musical tribute.

Building Bridges Seminar
For more than twenty years, the Building Bridges Seminar has brought together a range of internationally recognized Christian and Muslim scholars for intensive study. Texts from the Christian and Islamic traditions are used as the basis for discussion in a program that includes public lectures and private sessions.
