The Birthplace of Trust

ON APRIL 23, 2013, MSGR. PIERANGELO SEQUERI addressed the Georgetown University community on the topic, “The Birthplace of Trust: A Theological Approach to the New Quest for Truth.” In this lecture, he attempts to develop a coherent theory of the affective structure of what he calls “believing consciousness,” thereby locating faith in the human experience of affectivity.

Msgr. Pierangelo Sequeri is a priest of the Archdiocese of Milan, Italy. He is currently Dean of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, where he is Professor of Fundamental Theology. His scholarly research deals primarily with questions on the border between cultural anthropology and religious experience, with a particular focus on esthetics, music and psychology.

Msgr. Sequeri is also a musician and a composer of liturgical hymns and sacred music. He is Founder and President of Esagramma Symphony Orchestra which provides therapeutic music programs for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Msgr. Sequeri is the author of numerous philosophical and theological books and essays. His major work is Il Dio Affidabile: Saggio di teologia fondamentale, which translates to The Trustworthy God: An Essay in Fundamental Theology (2012).
