Class of 2020 Commencement Weekend

March 23, 2022

Dear Class of 2020,

We are writing to share some additional information about the Class of 2020 Commencement Weekend activities. This information is also available on the Class of 2020 website, which will continue to be updated. Please expect several additional communications regarding registration for the commencement ceremony and rain tickets.

We look forward to welcoming you, your families, and friends back to the Hilltop in May.

Ticketing and Registration
The commencement ceremonies will take place on Healy Lawn on Saturday, May 28, 2022. The undergraduate ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. and the graduate and professional degree ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. These outdoor events will not require tickets. In the event of severe weather, the rain site for the ceremony is the McDonough Gymnasium, and tickets will be required.

You will receive a unique link in the coming days to register for the ceremony and secure rain site tickets. At the time of registration, each graduate will be able to reserve two rain site tickets for their guests. Once we have an initial sense of overall attendance, additional rain tickets may be released.

Regalia
Academic regalia is required to participate in the commencement ceremony and can be purchased in person or online from the Georgetown University bookstore. Graduates must have a gown, hood, and cap/tassel for the ceremony. Stoles and keepsake tassels are available for purchase but are not required.

Other Events and Activities
Additional opportunities to connect with your classmates and faculty will take place throughout the weekend. A Baccalaureate Mass for all graduates and their families will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 29 on Healy Lawn, followed by a brunch. The Class of 2020 website will continue to be updated as the details of other gatherings are finalized.

Housing
On-campus housing, in one of Georgetown’s residence halls, is available for the Class of 2020 Commencement Weekend. Reservations can be made for $60 per night for two or three nights, checking in on Friday, May 27. Each graduate may reserve one double-occupancy room for their use or for use by their guests. Reservations may be made through April 8 on the Residential Living website.

Additional information on area hotels can be found here.

Public Health Requirements
Documentation of being up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination (currently a primary series and, when eligible, an additional dose) is required for all indoor events hosted by Georgetown University, both on and off campus. No proof of vaccination is required for those attending outdoor events only.

As a reminder, information on these details is included on the Class of 2020 website.
